The year 2000 was a turning point in Thampi¢s life. Critically acclaimed director Rajiv Anchal called him with an offer to act in his television film trilogy, which was being shot in New York. As soon as Thampi read the script he knew he wanted to be in it. So he landed in New York and acted in the films, Ila Kozhiyum Pole, Perakkidangal and Madakkayathra (2000). Anchal was so impressed with Thampi¢s performance that he promised him a role in one of his next films. Anchal kept his word - the film was Beyond the Soul (2003).

Beyond the Soul won several awards and accolades including the Grand Jury Prize for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay at the NY International Independent Film and Video Festival, a special jury mention at the New Delhi International Film Festival and a jury selection at the International Film Festival of Kerala, India. Moreover, Thampi Antony won the prestigious Best Actor Award at the Honolulu International Film Festival for portraying the title role of Acharya in Beyond the Soul. Thus he became the first malayalee actor to win an internationally acclaimed award. Later, the film was picked up by the prestigious Brenden Theater Corporation and made its theatrical run all over Northern California.

His most recent screen appearances include Colonel Abdullah in Anchal¢s Made in U.S.A. and as the poet Sukumaran Nair in the critically acclaimed director Blessy¢s film Palunku. Recently (2008)Thampy did another character for blessy's lates movie Calcutta news which is also produced by Thampy. His character in Palunku has earned him an unparalleled status among Top Indian Stars.

He has jest portrayed a Sardarji in main stream Hollywood movie, THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL, with Sean Bean.
